Darlington County First Steps to School Readiness exists to help children birth through 5 years old prepare for school. Our school readiness strategies include: family strengthening through our Parents as Teachers program and our Motheread/Fatheread family literacy program; early education by expanding opportunities for 4-year-old kindergarten in public and private settings; and school transition by providing a summertime readiness program, Countdown to Kindergarten.

This program is open to all girls, ages 5 to 17, who accept the girl scout promise and laws. The teachings of home, church and school are reinforced by this versatile program inspiring girls to be resourceful citizens of the community.

Open after school and all day on non-school days, program areas include Character & Leadership Development, Education & Career Development, Health & Life Skills, The Arts, Sports, Fitness and Recreation.
